Shree Gijubhai Badheka
Eminent educationist, thinker, freedom fighter and a creative writer, born as Nrusinhprasad Kalidas Bhatt, at Bhavnagar on 11 November 1882, later known as Nanabhai Bhatt, Nanabhai was a contemporary and one of the famous trinity of Bhavnagar with Gijubhai Badheka
and Harbhai Trivedi who have left great inspiration and vision in the
fields of innovative education, rural welfare and children's education
in India. Nanabhai Bhatt has been the founder of prestigious and unique
educational institutions such as Dakshinamurti Vidyarthi Bhavan /
Dakshinamurti Vinay Mandir - Bhavnagar, Gram Dakshinamurti - Ambala,
and, Lokbharti, situated at Sanosara in Sihor block, Bhavnagar.
Shree Gijubhai Badheka
Gijubhai Badheka (November 15, 1885 - June 23, 1939) born Chittal, India, was an educationist who helped to introduce Montessori education methods to India. He is referred to as "Moochhali Maa" ("mother with whiskers"). In the first instance, Badheka was a high court
lawyer. Following the birth of his son in 1923, he developed an
interest in childhood development and education. In 1920, Badheka
founded the "Bal Mandir" pre-primary school. Badheka published a number of works in the field of education including Divaswapna ("Daydreams").
